This work is classified as a painting of human life & talents aggregation, inspired by Li Bai’s poem, preface to the Feast in Peach and Plum Garden on a Spring Evening: “The universe is a temporary inn for all sentient beings. Time is a transit visitor across hundreds of generations. This drifting life is only a dream and there is not much time left to enjoy the pleasure of living.” The painting depicts an evening when the peach blossom is in full bloom and a group of intellects gather in the garden engaged in tea brewing, flower appreciating, painting viewing, poetry reciting, music listening and other artistic endeavors.
Xia Jing Shan is good at using Chinese Meticulous techniques to portray character demeanors, well-researched objects and architectures. The painting composition, colors and brush strokes are so elegant and exquisite that springtime peach blossoms come vividly alive.
