Zhong Kui’s hands in a salutation gesture, expressing the painting’s inscription of welcoming good fortune, and has a connotation of courteously welcoming blessings and fortune. The ingenuity of picture composition using seal carving resonates with the aesthetics of the ink lines in the characters. Xia Jing Shan often uses the theme of his paintings to express his thoughts and ideals, emphasizing that you can only accumulate blessings and good fortune if you hold onto good thought in your heart and carry out good deed.
