In the early legends of Zhong Kui, there was no story of him taming tigers. But after generations of artists interpreting his image of felling demons and catching ghosts, an extension of the imagery and the theme of Zhong Kui taming tigers came into being. The style of this work is fine and detailed, the ink is used as the base, while layered wash staining created the images and details, creating the life-like depiction of Zhong Kui’s flaring hair and beard, as well as the glistening tiger fur.
