Zhong Kui Marries off His Little Sister

This painting is taken from the folklore “Zhong Kui marries sister”. The surprisingly steep giant rock in the foreground is layered and stacked. In the middle, Zhong Kui is riding a white horse, leading ghost and monster attendants who are holding up flags, playing the drums and gong in a wedding parade. The entire work uses twin hook inking in combination with the green landscape, the meticulous line drawings depicts the character’s expressions and moods. The disparity in spatial distribution between Zhong Kui’s sister high in the pavilion and the wedding procession provide a strong visual effect to the image.
